This workshop is intended for young artists ages 11-16 that would like the opportunity to experiment with printmaking using professional printmaking supplies. You will be learning the fundamentals of printmaking; these skills can be applied to their art classes in the following school year as well as help with building the fundamentals of a strong portfolio. This is a great opportunity for students to work with friends or even to meet other likeminded students interested in arts. Participants attending should come with a notebook, pencil and inspiration.
Workshop will explore improvised marks, color and texture-combining drypoint and monotype. Students will learn the use of drypoint tools, sandpapers and other drawing implements to create marks and texture on Akua Printmaking Plates. Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints using simple techniques which we will print like etchings. Veils of color will be added using simple monotype techniques. You will leave with a small series of related, yet unique mono-prints.
