Dolores Pequeños/ Small Hurts explores navigating Latina girlhood through a series of short stories set at my grandmother's home. Through prints, ceramic sculpture, and animation with an emphasis on drawing, familiar objects in this space are translated into metaphors and poems of personal experiences. Each narrative traces a small moment, shared words, or mundane object as a capsule of the larger perpetuation of machista ideology that remains embedded in the Norteño culture. While wistfully reflecting on the past, each piece subverts the assumption that these small hurts are inconsequential.
